Even thought the time sprang forward an hour, I feel like I am really behind today! :)  My husband is still in Santiago Chili and they have worked every single day since he got off the airplane last Monday morning. The locals are taking them on a tour of the city today and I asked to please take some pictures for me...he is not a camera person so I am not sure how many I will get from him. From many places in the city you can see the snow-capped Andes Mountains with ranges up to 20,000 feet...and we think we have high mountains! :)  While trying to find some pictures for the kids to look at, I found photos online at Google of the marble caves...they are absolutely stunning. If you google marble caves of chili and night skies of chili and look at the images, you will see some breathtaking pictures of the marble caves and the beautiful starry skies!

Last week we studied the weather and how it changes in spring...some days are still cold while some days can be warm, like we had this past week. We painted thunderclouds with lightning, cut out sun and sun rays, and made rainbows with some little clouds. We can get some crazy thunderstorms here in the spring time! Other changes that occur in spring we discussed where the trees are starting to get buds for leaves, the daffodils and blooming, birds are making nests to have their babies, the grass will start to grow again and on some days we can go outside without any coats!

This week we will be studying Chili...we will be drinking some Latin American style hot chocolate, making Chilean rain sticks, creating a picture in the style of Chilean artist Christian Schloe, listening to some traditional music from Chili and learning some Spanish words.

Mrs. Gail's last day was on Friday and Mrs. Kathy is now our interim director.


Upcoming Events: 

Monday, March 14th:   Picture day for all kids in our classroom....spring pictures and cap/gown pictures!

March 15th:  The Raising A Reader parent meeting has been cancelled and our coordinator will re-schedule. 

March 17th:  St Patrick's Day Party...a food sign-up sheet will be in the classroom with the daily sign-in sheet.

March 25th:   We will be closed in observance of Good Friday

March 31, April 1st:     I will be in Charlotte helping Bobby move into his first home. Michael has decided to move in with him so we will be moving stuff out of our house and taking it to Charlotte and taking stuff out of Bobby's apt and moving all their stuff into the one house. Whew! Mrs. Judy K will be covering me.

April 22nd:  Dinner, Art Show and silent auction...time to be announced soon, but it will be in the evening.

May 12 and 13th:   I will be out with Michael's graduation and my parents and my in-laws coming to town. Mrs. Judy K will be covering me.
