Last week we worked on letter Tt, number 8 and the square shape. While we use our white boards to practice writing the letter and number and drawing the shape, I also have the kids practice writing their names. I have printed up name cards so they will be able to use them on the carpet with their white boards and can reference their name card if they are having difficulty knowing how to write their name. I do not expect them all to know how to write their names or to be able to write the letters and numbers perfect. All I ask is they try and with each week and month they will get better with practice.
This week we will be working on letter Ii, number 9 and the rectangle shape. We will also be starting small groups with groups of 6 children working at a table together and then rotating every ten minutes which allows each child to work at each activity and do some hands-on activities. Each day the activities are different and vary from literacy activities, math skills, STEM and fine motor skills.
We will be having an open house on Thursday, September 28 from 6-7:30 p/m. Our class has been working on some special projects that you will start to see hanging on the walls and we will be having several tables set up with hands-on activities for you to do with your child. Please join us for some fun!
As our weather is changing, please make sure your child has a change of clothes for cooler weather as well as warm weather.
If your child forgets their water bottle, we have plenty of water at the sink and in our fridge and all they need to do is ask for a cup. We want to keep them hydrated so remind your child if they forget their water bottle to just ask me or Mrs. Susan for a cup.
For your child's leader day, they may bring one toy from home to show and talk about with the class.
