January is just about done! Next up is February and before long it will be spring! Yay! I am ready for some sunshine and warmer weather!
This past week we were busy learning and playing and dancing! These kids love to have some dance music put on and just dance! We worked on letter Ss, number 21 and the oval shape. We read penguin stories and labeled the parts of a penguin and talked about several different types including the Rock Hoppers, the Chinstraps and the Emperor penguins.
This week we will be working on letter Mm, the number 22 and the heart shape. We will be working in small groups doing fine motor skill activities, literacy and math skills. Our study on winter will continue with some stories about snow and polar bears!
On February 14, Valentines Day, we will be having a party. I will get a party food list typed up and posted for sign-ups. My printer at my house is not being very cooperative so I will get it typed up at school. We have 20 kids on roll and the names of all our children are as follows:
Aiden
Adam
Bradley
Cannon
Ezra
Gideon
Grayson
Haven
Landon
Lauren
Lilli
Logan
Lucas
Madisyn
Neriah

Our art show will be coming up soon...the evening of March 23rd with art from all the children in our center being displayed outside the Sanctuary, a big dinner in the Fellowship Hall, the basket auction and the music performance in the Sanctuary. Our class will be gathering things for a basket for our auction. Our classroom themed basket will be "Crafty". We need anything crafty such as scrapbooking supplies, small acrylic paint bottles, different types of craft scissors, stickers, washi tape...anything you can use to be crafty.
Our children will performing a little play in the format of the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear. We would like for each child to wear jeans or dark pants and a brown or black shirt. We will be making bear masks for the eyes to go with their dark clothes.
As we get closer, details will be sent home as the price of the dinner, times for the dinner and what time the children need to be in the classroom to get ready for their performance.
It is still chilly outside when we go out to play in the mornings. Please make sure your child has a coat that is going to keep them warm on these dreary breezy chilly winter mornings.
Thursday, February 1st is Mrs. Kathy's last day with us at our school. We are going to miss her very much.
