"A good education is the next best thing to a pushy mother"----Charles Schultz, Peanuts

We made it through our first full week of school! We learned and played and had fun! I don't know about the kids, but I was tired Friday night!

I finished the beginning of the school year assessments on the kids and each child has a copy in their cubby. I circled the answers the kids knew and the ones they didn't know will not have a circle around them. If you have any question or concerns about your child's assessment, please let know and we can find a time to sit and talk. I will be doing another assessment in January and again at the end of the year.

We have started learning some sign language that the children are already finding helpful in their every day interactions with the other kids. Instead of screaming "stop it" at their friends, they are using the sign for "stop" and it works! We have also learned please, thank you and wait. As we go through the year we will learn more signs that they will find helpful to use such as drink, bathroom and more.

This week we will be working on letters Ss and Tt, numbers 10 and 11, the square shape and the sight word "me". We will also start our passports with learning about Japan! We will learn about the people and the culture, learn some Japanese words and listen to some Koto music of Japan.

Leader Day for the week of September 2nd-September 5:

Monday:        Closed

Tuesday:        Allie

Wednesday:    Khloe

Thursday:       Weston

Friday:            Brannon

Please remember we have limited time for our show and tell so please have your child only bring in one item to share with the class.

Reminders:

Please apply sunscreen to your child in the morning before coming to school. When the kids go outside in the afternoon it will re-applied to them by the afternoon staff.

Please have your child wear closed toe and closed back (or at least a good strap around the heels) shoes and shoes they can wear all day. We have a 30 minute block for our morning outside time which doesn't leave us much time to change shoes on the children.

When dropping off or picking up your child, our state licensing requirements require the children to be with an adult at all times while on our premises. If your child is in the hallway washing their hands and you are down the hallway or if you are in the classroom talking to the teacher and your child has run out of the classroom to wait in the hall for you, we will be in violation of the rules. This applies to our building and the main building.

Have a great week!!

......Mrs. Wendy
