This past week we learned about Vincent Van Gogh and his style of art. We learned how in the beginning his paintings where dark and not very colorful but over time he began to use more colors and created some very beautiful paintings. People didn't like his art very much and he didn't sell for many paintings but after he died his paintings became very popular and everyone wanted a Van Gogh picture. Here is a link to a video we watched about Van Gogh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qv8TANh8djI We created our Van Gogh drawings of still life using a vase with flowers. The kids where able to draw their own version of the vase filled with flowers. The pictures are hanging on the wall above the reading center. We also watched our lettuce plants grow taller and noticed they started leaning towards the left. Nathan told us a bulb us burned out on the right side so the plants are reaching towards the light on the left side. ( I hope Walmart sells replacement bulbs!) On Monday we are going to give the plants more nutrients and water. We also watched an exercise video and did the exercises along with the video and learned a game called Silent Ball that we played in the Fellowship Hall with our Koosh Ball. Our art work for the art show is now finished and we are continuing to practice our songs for our performance. The kids continue to enjoy our estimation jar!
This week we will be working on letters Zz and Kk, numbers 12 and 13, the rectangle shape and the sight word play. We will be doing a weather science experiment to make a cloud rain, we will learn about the musical composer Henry Mancini, and make a really cute St. Patrick's Day craft!
