I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas celebrating in their own way! We had our family Christmas on Sunday squished in between times Michael and his new wife could be here in between the times they were visiting with her family. This Saturday we are traveling to Charlotte to have another Christmas with our oldest son Bobby and his roommate. I hear the new Burlington store is now open, so I think we will just have to stop there first before heading to Bobby's house! Last trip was Ikea, this trip, Burlington!
I am sad to report our sweet classroom friend Vincent and his family have moved to Charlotte. I have watched Vincent and his little sister grow up and it sure will be different not having them around at school.
The kids have welcomed our new friend, Zaine into our classroom and when we come back from break we will be welcoming a new friend, Mason.
Although it hasn't quite yet felt like winter (and that makes my electric and gas bill happy!), when we come back from our little break we will start a study on winter!
Please make sure your child has a complete change of clothes in their cubby. If they spill their milk or get into mud outside we will need to change their clothes.
Things to work on at home:
Buttoning/zippering coats and pants independently
Scissors...we are really working hard on getting the correct grip with the kids but would love it if you would get them a pair of scissors and let them cut up magazines, printer paper, etc at home. We are teaching them thumbs up and elbow in for the correct positioning.
Marker/pencil grasp...another thing we are really working hard on. Many of the children have not been able to correct their pencil grasp and we want to have them holding their pencils correctly when they enter kindergarten. Please help them at home by providing pens, pencils, crayons, etc and work with them on holding it the correct way. With them working on it at home and at school they will all be using pencils correctly!

Have a wonderful week!
