I love this time of year, however, the allergies are awful! The cars are yellow, noses are stuffy, eyes are itchy and throats are scratchy. If we could speed up the pollen process and jump right into summer, that would be great right about now!
The kids performed some concerts this week..the girls first, then the boys and then all together and some sat in the audience and watched and clapped. They also danced and marched around in their "capes" and some wore their stuffed animals as hats. It was quite the performance!
This week we will be working on letter Jj, number 12 and the square shape. We will be sounding out words that start with the Jj sound such as jump, July, and jell-o. We are really emphasizing the letter sounds as being so important in learning how to read. Phonemic awareness is described as such: having the ability to notice, think about and work with individual sounds in words. When we sound out the word jump, it will have four letter sounds J-u-m-p and we sound it out several times and after sounding it out a few times, these children can read the word. Having great phonemic awareness is a good way to ensure kids have great success in reading. Your children are so ready for more learning! They are writing their own books at school, on their own, without anyone asking them to, they are labeling things with their own inventive writing and they are adding and counting things by themselves! Their abilities and enthusiasm are phenomenal and they continue to amaze me, day after day!
We will be closed on Monday, 28th, in observation of Memorial Day.
Please make sure your child's water bottle comes to school filled with water or please fill it up when you enter the classroom.
Please make sure your child has a complete change of clothes from head to toes...shirt, underwear, shorts and shoes.
If you haven't filled out our sunscreen permission slip, please do so asap. They are on top of the cubbies next to the sign in sheet. :) \
