What a crazy week we had! It looks like this coming week will be snow-free and much warmer than 15 degrees!

This week we are going to review the things we started learning last week, such as letters S and W, the star shape, the color white and the Beatitudes with Matthew 5: 3-12. The only day we had a good amount of children was Friday and we want everyone to have an opportunity to learn the same things as the others. Our word of the week last week was "and" and we will use it again this week.

We will also be talking about cold weather animals such as the polar bear and the penguin. Our door will be covered with blue paper and the children will be spray painting "snow" on the door with diluted white paint and a spray bottle. They will also be making their own snowflake to hang on the door and making a night time snow scene with black construction paper, more spraying painting and a polar bear.

I sent home a snowman with every child. Please have your child decorate and style his/her snowman anyway they wish. When they are finished, bring it back to school to share! I am excited to see what the children will be bringing back to school!

Some upcoming dates:

Mrs. Jennifer will be out on Jan 10th in the morning and on Jan 30th in the morning.

January 18th will be a "snow day" in our classroom. Have your child wear PJ's and we will be having a snowball fight (with yarn pom-poms!), drinking hot cocoa, hopefully making ice cream (I ordered the ice cream machine today and it's supposed to be here by the 16th), playing board games, and watching a snow movie. If anyone has the movie "snow buddies" with the golden retriever dogs, please let me know if we can borrow it. It has to be a DVD for it to work in our tv. If you have any other snow-related kid movie that you think the kids would like, let me know. I am open to any ideas for a good snow movie!

January 25th is crazy hair day---go wild, go crazy!

February 13th is a Raising A Reader parent mtg...we are thinking of having it at 9:00 a/m. Kristi, our coordinator will be bringing food (and those of you who have been to the mtgs, you know she brings good food! :) and hot chocolate. I will let you know the time as soon as we have it set in stone.
