April 14, 2013

Last week was beautiful and we played a lot outside! I think this week is supposed to be just as nice! I think we are all ready for some sunshine and warmer weather! Last week we worked on letters Aa and Bb, numbers 65 and 66, the rectangle shape and the word "find". We started, and almost finished, our spring picture and created some colorful doodles that you can see hanging on the clothesline in our windows. My husband was still in Germany last week so we learned two new German words... katze for cat and hund for dog.

This week we will be working on letters Cc and Dd, numbers 66 and 67, the triangle shape, the word "look" and the Bible verse Psalm 105:5 :Remember the wonders he has performed and his miracles.". We are also going to put the finishing touches on our spring pictures, draw a self-portrait, listen to stories and play! These kids have worked so hard all year and have learned so much! They have all grown socially, emotionally and academically and are ready to head to kindergarten!

The center will be closed on Friday,. May 24th and re-open on Tuesday, May 28th for our summer session.

Please return any spring/cap/gown pics you do not wish to purchase.

Please bring a coat/hoodie for your child to wear..the weather is getting warmer but if we get in the shade on the playground, it can still be cool.

Please make sure your child wears closed to shoes/sandals and if your child does wear sandals please make sure they have a strap on the back to keep their heel from slipping out when climbing and running. If you bring a change of shoes for them to change into to play outside, please make sure it's a pair of shoes they are able to get on themselves.

Skills To Keep Practicing:

Tying shoes
Buttoning/zippering
Knowing first/last name
Writing first/last name
Drawing a person with lots of details
Knowing their address/phone number
Drawing basic shapes

Although we do work on these skills at school, practicing at home helps to reinforce what they learned during the day.

Have a great week and enjoy the sunshine!

Mrs. Wendy
