September 29, 2013

Fall is finally here! Time for more allergies, pumpkin pie, beautiful leaves and more hoodies! This past week we worked on letters Kk, Ll, numbers 21, 22, the sight word "if" and the trapezoid shape. I have to admit, I was really impressed with how well the kids could draw a trapezoid! We learned that a trapezoid has 4 sides, but only two of those sides are parallel! We also started working on our own apple pie recipes that will be included in a craft we will finish this week...they take several days to complete!

This week we will be working on letters Mm, Nn, numbers 23 and 24, the sight word "can" and the hexagon shape. Our Bible focus will be 1 Thessalonians 5:15  "See that no one prays back for evil, but always tries to do good." We will have the rice box and water beads out to play with, tracing patterns and ziz-zags for pre-writing skills, matching colors with the written color word, graphing our favorite pies, finding missing numbers and finishing our apple pie craft.

Mrs. Lovenda and I are working on our dates for the Fire Station and the Post Office. It looks like the following week we will be having our field trips. We need a permission slip filled out for each trip and when we get those dates firmed up, we will send out the permission slips.

Reminders:

Cooler weather is upon us and sometimes when we go out in the mornings, it is still very cool. You might want to bring a lightweight jacket or hoodie for you child to have handy in case it is still cool when we go outside.

It is time for fall allergies and colds to come back around. We are working on making sure when the kids sneeze they bend their arm towards them and sneeze into their elbow instead of into their hands.

Some self-help skills we are working on at school and also for the kids to work on at home:

Putting on their own coat

buttoning

zippering

putting on socks/shoes

tying shoes

blowing noses

Have a great week!
