April 12, 2014

What a pretty weekend this is turning out to be! I hope the weather stays like this for awhile!

This week we will be working on letters Aa and Bb, numbers 23 and 24, the square shape and the word "see".  We will be doing some ten frames and t-charts, using our story stones to create our own stories, making a craft that is a secret for Mother's Day and learning about the story of Easter and the Resurrection of Jesus.

Important Info to Remember:

  • Pictures are being turned in to the office on Thursday, the 17th. If you haven't bought pictures yet and you would still like to, please purchase them online and give me your purchase code or pick out the pictures you want and put your check in the envelope that came along in the package.
  • Easter Party:  A sign-up sheet is with the daily sign-in sheet. Our party will be this Thursday, April 17th.
  • We are closed this Friday, April 18th in observance of Good Friday.
  • Mother's Day Tea:  On Thursday, May 8th we will be having a morning tea party for our moms. As you drop your child off, please get some food and enjoy it with your child. This will be in our classroom.
  • I will be off all day on Friday, May 9th. Miss Tempie will be covering for me.
  • Graduation:  Friday, May 23rd at 6:00 p/m in the Sanctuary. Please have your child in our classroom no later than 5:30 so the caps/gowns can be put on. If you are able to help your child get on their cap/gown, it would be greatly appreciated!  An ice cream social will follow in the playground area.
  • I still need from a few children their middle name and elementary school they will be attending. Please email me the info or tell me at school.
  • R.E.A.D. school supplies drive:  I have a group of teacher friends that have created a mission organization called R.E.A.D. They help create and supply libraries and learning classrooms for the people of Pujili in Ecuador. A lot of the people in this region, including many elderly people do not know how to read. Their mission is to get supplies and resources to the adults and children to help them gain literacy skills which are needed for many areas in their life. My friends take the supplies over on a plane and get a car as far as they can go and then backpack into the remote area with all the supplies in their backpacks.
We are collecting pencils, small pencil sharpeners, markers, colored pencils, small dry erase boards, glue sticks and childrens scissors for them to take on their next trip in May. If you would like to donate an item or two, you can leave it with me in the classroom and I will take it to our drop box outside the office.
