This past week was a bit crazy and that is typical for this time of year with bad weather and public schools closing. My road this time wasn't a bunch of snow, but packed down ice with snow on top...even Michael's 4-wheel drive truck slid sideways twice and the 2nd time he ended up part way in a ditch halfway down. He was able to get himself out and both he and the truck where fine but he wasn't going to take any chances and that night after work he parked it down at the bottom and walked up. I am ready for the warmer days of spring where we don't have to bundle up to go outside!
It looks besides Monday the rest of this coming week will be good. Monday is looking kind of iffy...not really sure what it wants to do...rain, snow, sleet. That being said, we will have our Valentines Party on Monday if the public schools are open. If the public schools are closed we will have it the next day they are open...even if it is on a delay. Not all of our children come to school when the public schools are closed and I would like for all of our children to be there to celebrate together.
- Pastries for Parents is tomorrow, Monday February 15th from 7:30-9:00 a/m. This is a drop-in event. Please help yourself to some good food and a drink and bring it in the classroom to sit and eat with your child before heading off to work!
- We will be closed on Thursday, Feburary 18th for staff training/workshop
This week we will start our study of Brazil and will be making some Carnival Masks and Headdresses to celebrate Carnival which kicks off the beginning of Lent in Brazil. I have some fun Samba music for the kids to listen to as well. Our masks and headdresses will take awhile to create and I will be using them in our art show as well. The kids can take them home after the art show!
As well as learning about Brazil we will be working on letter Ss, number 23, the hexagon shape and the sight word "play".
Reminders:
Please keep toys at home unless it is your child's leader day. We don't want their toys broken or lost.
Please make sure your child has a complete change of winter clothes in their cubby
Please make sure your child has a hat/gloves/mittens to wear outside. We go outside even when it's very cold and while they love running and climbing and sliding, their little hands and ears get cold.
