If you still have the Raising A Reader survey at home or in your car, please fill it out and send back to me ASAP! I need to get them back to our reading coordinator, Kristi Cook. She will be here for our graduation to hand out a blue reading bag to each child who is graduating. The book bag and the books inside are for your child to keep! :)
Our school uses Creative Curriculum as our every day curriculum and now our classroom has added a new add-on curriculum as well. It is a social thinking curriculum and it was called "The Incredible Flexible You", but the name has recently been changed to "We Thinkers". You may have noticed on the white board we use for large group time we have a stick figure person and a thought bubble for the person. This thought bubble details the plans we have for circle time such has saying hello, reading a book, etc. This add-on curriculum emphasizes others have feelings and thoughts and we need to be good listeners and respectful and kind to others. It uses whole body listening which is our eyes, ears, mouth and body. We have some wonderful women from the public school that have come in to help model for me how to introduce and teach this new curriculum to the children and this is a little video they watched on Friday...and they loved it!

We are teaching them to bring their whole body to the group and to use whole body listening when someone is speaking. They are really enjoying these new things and have been responding very well! As time goes on they will learn more things like their where their feelings keeper is (their heart) and other ways to be socially responsible and kind people to everyone! :)
Our graduation is on Friday, May 9th @ 10:00 a/m. If you are bringing your child to school only for graduation that day, please bring them to the classroom and help them put on their cap/gown (good picture opportunity!) and then head up to the Sanctuary. The slide show will start around 9:30 and play twice until 10:00. After graduation is over and your child is going home with you, you must sign them out, like on a normal school day.
Graduation practices are being held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday the week of graduation at 10:00 in the Sanctuary. Some of you have children that are going home for the summer prior to graduation. You are welcome to bring them and stay with them during our practices so they will know what to do on graduation day.
- Picture money is due by tomorrow, May 22nd.
- We will be closed Monday, May 29th for Memorial Day
