Call me crazy, but I have my window and doors open today! The sun is shining and it feels like spring! Even the birds and squirrels are happy today! Yesterday was the gender reveal party for my son and his wife's baby and it's a boy! Sierra and I were really hoping for a little girl to dress up, however, a boy will be gracing our lives and bringing all of us much joy! I also have to give a shout out to our youngest son and our daughter. Nathan has been nominated to become part of the National Society for Collegiate Scholars. Only ten percent of students at UNCG get nominated and they need a GPA of 3.5 or higher and it's given to high achievers, so Yay for Nathan! Our daughter has been nominated to become part of the Tau Sigma National Honor Society for transfer students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. She transferred from Southwestern Community College to Western Carolina University where both my husband and our oldest son attended.

For those of you who are wondering if your child is academically ready for kindergarten, please know that our youngest son, the high achieving college student who is majoring in Physics, has a birthday in June and knew absolutely nothing when he started kindergarten. I tried and tried to work with him but he could care less. His social/emotional skills were great, which helped him to be able to attend to tasks at school, get along with friends, sit and listen and be ready to learn. He started kindergarten as a very young 5 year old, however, he had three older siblings and had plenty of social experiences. Children learn at their own pace and some are more ready to learn quicker than others. Kindergarten teachers would rather have a child that has great a great social/emotional I.Q, than one that is already reading and doesn't know how to sit at circle time or how to make friends or how to solve a conflict.

Jack is still currently in the hospital. He has been in touch with me just about every day. His blood pressure has been dropping and they want to keep him in until it's regulated and then the new plan is to discharge him to Maggie Rehab which is only a few miles away from me. Please have your child make him a card that I can take to him when he gets settled in. :)

We still needs lots of things for our crafting basket for the Art Show! Also, please make sure your child has a brown or black shirt and jeans to wear for the music program that evening.

Please make sure your child has a complete change of clothes, preferably two changes of clothes including underwear and socks and maybe an old pair of shoes. We go outside to play as long it's not pouring rain and these kids love to play in the dirt and get dirty, which is basically what childhood is all about. :)

Please let me know if your child will be attending school with us this summer. I have only heard back from a few families and we are working on plans for the summer and need to get a basic head count.
