I have to give a shout out to my daughter who has been selected to join another honor society, this one is the National Society of Leadership and Success, Sigma Alpha Pi, for her outstanding academic achievement and leadership potential at Western Carolina University. She has also been accepted into the teaching college and signed her professional disposition papers last Tuesday. She was born a preemie with a heart condition and has never let that slow her down. Since birth she has been a very determined child and doesn't let anything get in her way. She attends college full time and works at the lake in the coffee shop on the weekends. We are very proud of her and our other three children. They have all become successful and independent adults who are making great contributions to our world.
On Thursday I went to visit Grandpa Jack at the Maggie Rehab. I had to walk fast to catch up to him in the hallway on our way to the dining hall. I forgot he loves to eat as much as I do! He is doing great...some memory loss here and there, but nothing significant. He has been doing physical therapy to regain his strength from being in a hospital bed for almost a week. He told me there was an alarm on his bed that would alert the nurses if he got out of bed so he is very happy to have his mobility back and be able to walk around the nursing home and to get outside and walk with his physical therapist. He looks great and says he will be back on Wednesday. We would like to have a welcome back Jack party for him and have ice cream sundaes. If you would like to bring in chocolate syrup, whipped cream, etc please let me know. I want to make sure he is being released and able to come back on Wednesday before we bring in any food. As soon as I find out on Tuesday, I will let you know.

Our Art show/dinner/music program/auction is Friday evening, March 23rd. Please have your child dress in a brown or black shirt with jeans.
We still need lots of things to add to our basket for our auction. Yarn, knitting needles, acrylic paint, sewing kit, scrapbook paper, scissors...
Please make sure your child has a complete set of clothes from head to toe in case of a food/water/milk spill or from playing outside in the dirt.
Please make sure your child has a blanket and stuffed animal to sleep with at rest time. We have been seeing a lot of children without blankets and we do not have extra in the classroom. We have also been having a lot of children wanting to borrow a classroom stuffed animal for rest time and they really need to have their own from home.
Please make sure your child is in the classroom prior to 9 a/m. The cut-off time for arrival is 9 a/m. This allows us to help with staffing and get an accurate lunch count and in our classroom, we start our academic portion of the day at 9:00. If your child will be late for a drs appt, please call the office and let them know and you can also email me prior to 7 a/m on a school day and let me know.
