October 18, 2015

Brrrrrrrr! It's a bit chilly outside! I hope everyone is enjoying these beautiful blue October skies and the gorgeous sunny days! I tried to get most of my plants in off my deck on Friday evening but two of the pots are way too big for Nathan and I to get in the house so now I am waiting for Michael to get done with his three 12 hour shifts to be home to help. I have no idea where I am going to put these big peace lilly plants, the mystery palm and the boston fern but I don't want to let them die off in the cold.  Like everything else, we will figure it out!

Last week was sort of crazy but we managed to get a lot of learning and play time done during the days we where in school. The kids where really helpful and sweet to Mrs. Judy and I appreciate her being able to come in and help me out!

This week we are going to be really busy! We will be working on the letter Ii, the number 13, the heart shape and the sight word "and". Our passports will be taking us to Germany where we will learn about the people, the foods, the culture, the music and the geography. The kids will be designing the paper for their own Schultute, which is a gift parents in Germany give their children on the first day of school. After they have designed and colored the paper for their Schultute, Mrs. Lovenda and I will be filling them and the kids will be able to take them home! Here is a link for more info...http://www.kindercone.com/shop/history  The kids will also be trying some German cookies and German pickles!

Our field trip to the Asheville Airport to Landmark Aviation is this Tuesday, October 20th. We are leaving school at 8:45...the car seats and kids will be loading up by 8:30 and we will be on our way. We will be giving the children their morning snack early but please be sure to make sure they have a good breakfast before coming to school that morning. Please have your child at school by 8:00 so we can get them all fed, to the bathroom and out the door! Our appointment time is at 9:30. If you prefer to drive your own child or meet us there, please let me know tomorrow. Please leave their car seat/booster seat underneath the coat hooks in the hallway where we hang our coats.

Upcoming Events:

Tuesday, October 20th:    Field Trip! If you haven't turned in your permission slip, please bring it in tomorrow!

October 30th:   Halloween party in the Fellowship Hall. Your child may wear a costume and bring  a labeled treat bag/bucket for collecting candy at the different games and activities. A food sign-up sheet will be posted soon for our party food. We need parent (or grandparent) volunteers to help with the games and activities. We will have at least 5-7 different activities for the children to participate in and would love to have some help at each game! The party will start approx 9:00 in the morning in the Fellowship Hall with the children having their morning snack then going around to the different games/activities. By 11:30 we will be heading back to our classroom to get ready for lunch/rest time. If you can help out, please let me know!
