It's a rainy Saturday evening, homemade tomato soup is simmering on the stove and I have no plans to go anywhere today or tomorrow! I know we need the rain, but I am ready for it to be over! My laptop, tablet, ipod, kindle and phone are all charged so if the power goes out I am ready! :)  Thankfully I was able to get my 2nd oldest son up on the roof (Michael) to clean out the gutters on Thursday afternoon before the big rains showed up! Today I made my famous chocolate chip cookies with a new all purpose gluten free baking mix. All the other gluten free flours make my cookies either hard or grainy or both. This mix worked well in the pumpkin muffins I made last week so I thought I would try the cookies again and they came out great! I also have been going through all my millions of photos I have of our kids and all the places we have lived and visited. I am copying them all to a google album so my kids, in-laws and my parents can access them and see them. My fear has always been a flood or fire would ruin all my pics so at least this way with some of them in a secure online album I know they will be saved. I have boxes and boxes of pictures in a spare bedroom closet that would take me weeks to even go through! My kids get aggravated with me when I take their pictures but one day they will want to go back and show their kids what they looked like as kids!

This week we where busying studying Japan. We found out they have volcanoes that are still active, the eat their food with chopsticks, they have snow and hot weather and multi generations of families live together. Our food from Kobe was delicious and even our choosiest eaters ate some or most of it! The fans we made turned out great and we used them to do some fan dancing. We also did some hands-on activities and a color changing milk science experiment! The kids thought it was really cool and it is easy to re-create at home using milk, food coloring and dawn dish detergent. This week will be starting to talk about fall and the changes that occur during the fall season, some one to one correspondence, positional words, making inferences, having our K-Prep Social, our field trip and a taste test on Thursday. I still need a few field trip permission slips turned in!

 October 6th:    K-Prep Social 5:00 in the Fellowship Hall. Raising A Reader red reading bags go home this evening!

October 7th:     Field Trip to the Fire Station

October 12th:   Visit from Mrs. Michele to learn about sign language

October 13th:   We are closed for teacher training

October 30th:   K-Prep Halloween party in the Fellowship Hall. Please bring a bag of wrapped candy and a labeled treat bag/bucket for your child
