Happy Super Bowl Sunday! I really hadn't decided on which team to root for, but when I heard a 2004 graduate of my old high school in Millville, NJ was on the Giants team, I decided to root for the Giants. I guess I should anyway since the Giants stadium is in NJ and that's my home state!

Last week we were busy with Groundhog day activites...making our predictions, graphing our predictions, making groundhog paper bag puppets and seeing if our groundhogs saw their shadow outside. We also worked on letters U and V and the heart shape.

We read cute stories about monsters and made our own monsters out of clay, googly eyes, fuzzy sticks and feathers and we made handprint monsters! The clay monsters are dry and you can take your child's monster home! For science we mixed colors to make new ones. Some of the boys decided to add more colors to see what they could come up with!

This week we will be working on letters W and X, the numbers 11 and 12, a pentagon, the color pink and our word of the week will be "did". Our Bible verse will be Matthew 7:7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." . I have posted a pic of the sign language Mrs. Jennifer will be teaching to the children to go along with our Bible verse.

We will also try to do the balloon/vinegar/baking soda again...the kids really liked that and we will be doing a sink/float experiment. The children will have 6-8 objects to guess if they will sink or float and then try it and see what happens.

Our creative art for the week will be making our Valentine day card holders and making "love bug" rocks...painting them and adding felt wings w/rhinestones and googly eyes for their eyes! If your child would like to bring Valentines Day cards for their friends for Valentine's Day and you haven't seen the newsletter or blog with the list of all our classmates names, please let me know a.s.a.p. and I will get one to you!


Reminders:

Raising A Parent meeting: February 13th at 9:30 a/m in the Fellowship Hall. The children will be singing songs and hot chocolate and cookies will be served!

Valentines Day party:  February 14 during morning snack time. Mrs. Wendy and Mrs. Jennifer will be providing the snack. Your child can wear pink, red or white that day if they choose!
