Last week was another busy one in our classroom! The kids made shapes out of the linking popsicle sticks, created stories with the flannel board dinosaurs and firemen, shared their pictures or objects that start with letters E and F, played a game where we found pictures that start with the letter "C" sound. They also worked on patterning, making shapes out of play doh, practiced writing Ee, Ff, numbers 15 and 16, drawing a triangle shape and writing the word "see". We also did a sink/float science experiment...I brought in several things for them to try and then we found a few more things in the classroom to try. They had a great time with this...probably because they got to play in the water!
Our kids have started to go upstairs to the Venue for Chapel on Wednesday mornings. I have to brag on our kids...they were so well behaved and so respectful to Mrs. Kathy who was teaching the songs and telling them stories. I was very proud of them!
This week we will be working on letters Gg, Hh, numbers 17 and 18, the square shape and the word "it". For language activities we will be listening and discussing stories, finding words that start with letters G and H, playing Alphabet Bingo and creating words using duplo blocks. We will work on one to one correspondence in math, along with counting to 30 and creating patterns with plastic people. This week we will also be planting carrot seeds into a 2 liter soda bottle. This is a new idea I found on Pinterest, so I am hoping it really does work. If it turns out well, the kids will be able to see the roots growing inside of the plastic bottle and we will be keeping track of watering it and how much it is growing. Hopefully we will be able to eat the carrots when they are ready! Our Bible focus will be continuing in Genesis and be reading stories from chapters 28-46.
Please have your child cut out a picture or bring in an object (that fits in their small take home bags) that start with letters G and/or H this week.
Also, please remember to check/take home your child's folder each day. If it is easier, you are more than welcome to take the folder from the milk crate when you drop off your child in the morning. I know how hectic it gets when picking up children and it is easy to forget the folder.
Please remember to keep toys at home unless it is your child's leader day. Toys can get lost or broken and then the children become upset. We have plenty of toys and activities in the classroom for the children to play with each day.
