October 16, 2011

We are already half way through October...where has the time gone? It was another beautiful fall weekend and I hope everyone got out and enjoyed the sunshine and blue skies! My family and I went to the Apple Festival in Waynesville on Saturday. We enjoyed some lemonade and funnel cake and loved looking at all the crafts and wandering in and out of all the stores.

This past week we worked on "Our Bodies" lesson plans. We read lots of stories about our five senses, made a paper doll with clothing for our fall season and talked about good and not so good things our hands and feet can do. We also talked about appropriate and inappropriate touching and the kids learned that any part of the body covered by a bathing suit is off limits for touching our friends.

Coming up this week we will continue with our fall activities by making spider webs with glue and reading stories about fall and halloween. The children will also be able to make fun faces on pumpkins with playdoh, create patterns on a paper pumpkin with triangles and squares and play a math game by rolling a dice and counting how many "spiders" (black pom-poms) to put on a spider web.

Don't forget our Trunk or Treat is coming up soon! October 31st at 10:30 in the morning in the upper parking lot (with the basketball hoop), parents are invited to decorate the trunk of their car and pass out candy to the four preschool classes. After the trunk or treat, our class will be having a pizza party. The party sign up sheet is located on the window to the right of our classroom door. If your child normally goes to car line at noon, they are more than welcome to stay until the end of the party. We do not want any of our children to miss out on the fun!

It looks like Monday and Tuesday are going to be warm in the afternoon, but by Wednesday the temperatures are going to drop to a daytime high of the low 50's for the rest of the week. We go outside around 9:30 in the morning. Please make sure your child has on warm clothing and brings a coat to wear outside.
