October 9, 2011

What a beautiful weekend! Fall is definitely in the air! Before long the leaves will all be off the trees, so enjoy their beautiful colors now! My dog Charlie had his birthday this past week and this weekend my younger kids and I made him peanut butter dog bones (he looooves peanut butter!) and bought him a frog stuffed animal. He is not spoiled at all!

Congratulations Tuscola on your win Friday night over your rival Pisgah! The score was 28-27 and Tuscola won in the last few seconds! Thank you Analyn's mom for bringing in the Tuscola/Pisgah cupcakes and to Sawyer's mom for bringing in football plates and napkins!

This past week was a busy one! We had the visit from the fire truck, picture day and spirit day! I think this upcoming week may be a little be slower paced! This Wednesday I will be leaving at noon to take my daughter to a doctors appointment and I will be off all day on Friday. On Thursday Mrs. Jennifer is going to a workshop and will be leaving at 11:00. I guess maybe this week will be just as crazy as last week!

We are going to do a unit on our bodies this week...talking about our five senses, what things our hands and feet can do, and respecting the personal space of others. We have a lot of affectionate and loving children who love to hug and touch the other children, but sometimes the children receiving the hugs don't wish to be hugged or touched. We will also be working on asking friends if they would like a hug or if they can touch them and we will also talk about where it is appropriate to touch and hug our friends.

Here are some self-help skills we are working on that you can also work on at home:
Blowing noses, putting the tissue in the trash can and washing hands afterwards
Zippering coats.....it is cold now in the mornings and we are wearing our coats on the playground
  Buttoning/Snapping pants and shirts
Using the toilet independantly---using the toilet, wiping, flushing and hand washing

Thank you to those who have brought supplies in! We appreciate all our parents and all they do for our classroom!

I hope you are all having a wonderful fall weekend!
